Sharing details of the operation on X, GMC described the drive as a step towards creating a more organised urban environment with improved civic management and better utilisation of public spaces.
“Together, let’s build a smarter and more organized Guwahati,” the civic body stated in its post.
The latest drive is part of a series of eviction and anti-encroachment operations conducted by GMC across different parts of the city in recent weeks.
Earlier, eviction drives were carried out in the Science Museum area of Khanapara to improve traffic flow and restore public spaces. Similar action was also undertaken in the Bhangagarh area, where encroachments were removed to ease traffic congestion and improve pedestrian safety.
The civic body has been intensifying such measures as part of broader efforts to streamline traffic movement, improve urban infrastructure and maintain public spaces across Guwahati.
