Barpeta, Assam | 29 October 2026: Nearly four years after devastating floods destroyed the Kaimari Government Primary School in Assam’s Barpeta district, a newly constructed school building has been inaugurated and handed over by Group Legrand India in partnership with One Stage Organization, restoring access to a safe learning environment for around 160 children.
The school was severely damaged and washed away during the 2022 floods, leaving students without adequate educational facilities and disrupting their studies.
The newly rebuilt school was inaugurated in the presence of government officials, community leaders, teachers, students and representatives of Group Legrand India and One Stage Organization.
The school features five classrooms, a staff room, a digital learning room, a kitchen with storage facilities, separate sanitation facilities for girls, boys and staff, classroom furniture, electricity connectivity and a playground. The campus also incorporates the Building as Learning Aid (BALA) concept, which uses the school environment as an interactive space to encourage learning, curiosity and creativity among students.
Speaking at the inauguration, Abida Aneez, Vice President of Sustainability and CSR at Group Legrand India, highlighted the importance of restoring educational opportunities for children affected by the floods. She expressed hope that the reconstructed school would provide a supportive environment where students could learn, develop their potential and work towards a brighter future.
The project reflects Group Legrand India’s ongoing commitment to improving educational infrastructure and supporting underserved communities affected by natural disasters. The company had also extended support to Kharbali Government Primary School in Assam in 2023.
Local authorities, school management committees, teachers, parents and community members played an important role in the successful completion of the project.
The reconstruction of Kaimari Government Primary School marks a significant step towards restoring educational continuity in the flood-affected village, offering renewed opportunities for children to pursue their education in a safer and more supportive environment.
