Guwahati Residents Join Protest in Support of Sonam Wangchuk at Nehru Park


 

GUWAHATI: People from Guwahati joined a protest organised by the SFI and DYFI at Nehru Park on Friday, July 17, expressing solidarity with environmentalist and education reformer Sonam Wangchuk. Holding placards and raising slogans, participants called for reforms in the country's education system and extended support to Wangchuk's ongoing campaign.

During the protest, demonstrators urged the Centre to engage with Wangchuk's demands and take concrete steps to strengthen the education system. They said his movement has sparked a wider conversation on educational reforms and accountability, drawing support from people across the country.

The demonstration comes as Wangchuk continues his indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, which entered its 20th day on July 17. Through his protest, Wangchuk has been highlighting concerns related to the education system and other public policy issues, with citizens and organisations from different parts of the country expressing solidarity with his movement.
