According to the warning issued on Thursday, September 3, thunderstorms and lightning, along with a few spells of light to moderate rainfall of up to 6 cm in 24 hours, are expected from 8:30 AM on September 3 to 8:30 AM on September 4. Isolated heavy rainfall of 7-11 cm in 24 hours is also very likely over Guwahati and nearby areas.

The weather conditions may lead to waterlogging in low-lying areas and underpasses, while waterlogged roads could affect traffic and increase travel time. The RMC has also warned of reduced visibility due to intense rainfall.

Temporary disruptions to power and municipal services are possible, while boat and ferry services may also be affected. The warning further cautioned about uprooting of trees and the possibility of landslides, landslips and mudslips at some locations.

The RMC has advised residents to keep a watch on weather conditions, follow traffic advisories and take safe shelter during thunderstorms. People have also been advised to avoid or minimise travel to areas that frequently face waterlogging and stay away from landslide-prone areas and slippery roads.
