GUWAHATI: The Assam government has established a new Kahilipara Police Station in Guwahati by bifurcating the existing jurisdiction of Dispur Police Station.

The new police station has been established under Section 11 of the Assam Police Act, 2007, with the aim of strengthening law and order and improving
policing in the area.
Kahilipara Police Station will bring the Odalbakra Outpost and Bhagadattapur Outpost under its jurisdiction. Both outposts were earlier under Dispur Police Station in the East Guwahati Police District.
As per the notification, the new police station will initially operate from the existing premises of the Odalbakra Outpost until a separate building is constructed.
The jurisdiction of Kahilipara Police Station will extend across areas bounded by Pahartoli-Mritunjay Mandir (10th APBn 2nd Gate) to the north, Lokhra Bridge-London Bridge-Kerakuchi to the south, Kahilipara-GMCH Road to the east, and Sarat Singha Road-Krishnanagar Chariali-Dhapoliya Road to the west.
The reorganisation has also resulted in changes to the jurisdiction of Dispur Police Station. Under the revised arrangement, its boundaries will extend from Ganeshguri Flyover (right side)-Tea Action Centre-Secretariat-Fire Brigade-Bataguhli in the north to Jayanagar Chariali-Bishnu Rabha Path (left side)-Beltola Tiniali (left side) in the south.
Its eastern boundary will run through Hastinapur-Khanapara Flyover (left side)-Jayanagar Chariali (left side), while the western boundary will cover Udayachal-Christian Basti Hanuman Mandir-Kahilipara-GMCH Road.
The revised Dispur Police Station jurisdiction will continue to include areas such as Ganeshguri, Nilamoni Phukan Road, Christianbasti GS Road up to Ganeshguri, Udayachal Nagar, Kachari Basti, back side of MLA hostel, nearby area of Rajdhani Masjid, Dispur Last Gate, Supermarket, Usha Nagar, Rukmini Gaon, Rukmininagar, Survey and Panjabari, Hastinapur, and Amerigog (Part of Ward no. 48, 46, 40 and 41).
The notification further states that the areas of Hengerabari, Borbari, Chachal, Panjabari (left side), Dwarka Nagar, Mathura Nagar, Japiorigog, Krishnanagar and Sundarpur will be excluded from Dispur Police Station and included under Geetanagar Police Station, as these areas fall under the New Guwahati Legislative Assembly Constituency.
Meanwhile, Botaguhli and Baghorbari Amsing Reserve (Ward no. 60) have been added to the Dispur Police Station jurisdiction from the Satgaon Police Station area, as they fall under the Dimoria Legislative Assembly Constituency.
The jurisdiction will also include the existing areas covered by the Bhagadattapur and Odalbakra outposts, along with specified portions currently under Dispur, Fatashil Ambari and Gorchuk police stations.
The notification stated that the establishment of the new police station and the revised jurisdiction will come into force with immediate effect.
