GUWAHATI: The Assam government on Thursday, August 13, felicitated Commonwealth Games 2026 silver medallist boxer Lovlina Borgohain and presented her with a financial reward of ₹30 lakh.

“Met with our star performer Lovlina, whose punches on and off the boxing ring lands straight on the sweet spot. I congratulated her on her recent performance at the CWG2026 where she bagged a Silver,” Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote on X, attaching a video of the felicitation.
“There's much more to come from her in the coming days! Best wishes,” the CM added.
Speaking at a felicitation ceremony yesterday in Guwahati, Lovlina recalled her early days and said she had always felt welcomed irrespective of whether she won a medal or not.
She also spoke about how happy she felt after winning a Commonwealth medal to add to her collection of Olympic, Asian and World Championship medals.
Lovlina Borgohain participated in the women’s 75kg category at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games. She lost 1-4 to Australia’s Emma-Sue Greentree in the final.
The boxer has dedicated her silver medal to the flood-affected people of Assam, paying tribute to those who lost their lives and the thousands displaced by the devastating floods across the state.
