Nearly 40 street dogs were vaccinated against rabies and given health check-ups during an anti-rabies vaccination and medical camp held in Ulubari’s Solapara area on Sunday, August 30, as part of an awareness programme on animal safety and human-animal coexistence.
The camp was held at Marakhali Youth Club and was organised under the aegis of the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, Government of Assam, and the Kamrup (M) District Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).
The programme focused on raising awareness about animal safety, responsible care of street animals, rabies prevention and the importance of peaceful and compassionate coexistence between people and animals.
The vaccination and medical check-ups were conducted by Dr Anjan Goswami, Senior VET and Nodal Officer, SPCA, Kamrup (M).
The initiative sought to strengthen rabies prevention efforts and promote responsible community participation in the care and welfare of street animals.
