New Book ‘Emails From My Grandpa – Part 2’ Released in Guwahati Alongside Four Health Awareness Booklets


 

GUWAHATI: Young author Saanvi Dutta unveiled her latest book, Emails from My Grandpa – Part 2, at a press meet  organised by down town Hospital on Thursday, July 31.

The programme, organised in collaboration with the Guwahati Press Club, also featured the release of four public interest booklets aimed at raising awareness on health and social issues.

The book was formally released by Padma Shri Dr Surjya Kanta Hazarika, eminent polymath and former President of the Asam Sahitya Sabha, in the presence of Dr N. N. Dutta, Chairman and Managing Director of down town Hospital, Gariasi Dutta, Director of down town Group, and members of the media.

A sequel to Emails from My Grandpa, the book presents a series of conversations between Dr N. N. Dutta and his granddaughter Saanyi, highlighting values such as affection, wisdom, curiosity and the importance of meaningful communication across generations.

The latest edition expands on these conversations with anecdotes, historical insights, scientific discoveries and technological advancements, while drawing inspiration from epics such as the Ramayana and the Mahabharata.

Speaking at the launch, Dr Surjya Kanta Hazarika praised Saanvi's literary talent and appreciated the initiative to encourage reading habits among young people. He said books that promote family interactions and values play an important role in inspiring children beyond classrooms.

Dr N. N. Dutta said the publication is more than a collection of emails and reflects the timeless relationship between grandparents and grandchildren. He expressed hope that the book would encourage families to spend more meaningful time together through thoughtful conversations and reading.

Emails from My Grandpa – Part 2 has received an encouraging response from readers. The author has also written two other books, Danger and A Bright Light, both published by Bri Books and available online.

As part of the event, down town Hospital also launched four awareness booklets on early identification of developmental delays, the harmful effects of alcohol, nursing challenges and addiction. A CPR educational video was also unveiled to promote life-saving awareness among the public.

The programme concluded with an interactive session with media representatives, reaffirming the hospital's commitment to community outreach through literature, preventive healthcare and public education initiatives.
