Nimaya Foundation has proposed bringing its GenAI Ready Naari programme to young women across Assam, with a special focus on those from tribal areas, following a meeting between its co-founders and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on October 9.
The programme is being rolled out in partnership with the Assam Investment Advisory Society (AIAS) and Ashoka University’s Centre for Social and Behaviour Change (CSBC), with support from the Gates Foundation.
GenAI Ready Naari aims to equip young women with skills in generative artificial intelligence (AI) to pursue careers and establish their own startups.
The programme uses Nimaya’s proprietary immersive curriculum to train women in generative AI and workplace skills. Participants apply their learning to real business problems through industry capstone projects with organisations such as Jio Creative Labs and PepsiCo.
The programme is aligned with the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) and recognised by the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET). Participants are eligible for micro-credits under the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC), in line with the National Education Policy.
Participants who complete the programme receive a nationally recognised credential.
AIAS will contribute its local expertise and institutional network to extend the programme across Assam, including tribal communities. Ashoka University’s Centre for Social and Behaviour Change will contribute its research and behaviour change expertise.
Nimaya co-founders Navya Nanda and Samyak Chakrabarty said the programme would help young women use AI alongside skills such as emotional intelligence, communication and an entrepreneurial mindset to pursue careers or establish enterprises.
AIAS President Ranjit Borthakur said initiatives such as GenAI Ready Naari could help young women from diverse backgrounds gain the skills, confidence and exposure needed to navigate a changing economy.
Over the coming months, the programme plans to highlight the stories and aspirations of young women across Assam, from Guwahati’s colleges to tribal communities.
Nimaya Foundation was co-founded by Navya Nanda and Samyak Chakrabarty in 2021. Its flagship programmes, GenAI Ready Naari and the Future Ready Naari Fellowship, focus on equipping young women from underserved communities with workplace skills and real-world exposure. The foundation said it has reached more than 10,000 young women across five states.
