GUWAHATI: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has moved the Bombay High Court against alleged defamatory social media posts and deepfake content linking him and his family to financial gains from the E20 ethanol blending programme.

The High Court has granted Gadkari permission to file a civil suit against Meta, X, Google and other unidentified entities allegedly involved in creating and circulating the content.
According to the suit, the disputed material includes social media posts, deepfake images and videos claiming that Gadkari and his family benefited from the E20 ethanol blending programme. The petition argues that these claims are false and misleading.
The lawsuit also points out that the E20 ethanol blending policy is administered by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, and not by the ministry headed by Gadkari.
Gadkari has sought legal action against the platforms and unidentified individuals accused of spreading the alleged misinformation, saying the content has harmed his reputation.
The matter is expected to be taken up before the Bombay High Court in the coming days.
