A portrait of Shrimad Rajchandraji, an Indian saint and spiritual luminary, was installed at Gandhi Mandap in Guwahati on Thursday, September 17, in a programme organised in association with the Guwahati Centre of Shrimad Rajchandra Mission Dharampur (SRMD).
The occasion was attended by MLA Vijay Kumar Gupta, along with other distinguished guests and members of the community.
Shrimad Rajchandraji, who lived in the late 19th century, was known for his spiritual writings and teachings on self-realisation, inner transformation and liberation. He was a visionary who laid the foundations of spirituality for a new era and lived in the supreme state of soul consciousness
His association with Mahatma Gandhi is considered significant in the latter’s spiritual journey. According to SRMD, Rajchandraji’s teachings influenced Gandhi’s understanding of values including ahimsa, satya, brahmacharya and aparigraha.
The portrait installation at Gandhi Mandap was held as a tribute to Shrimad Rajchandraji’s contribution to India’s spiritual and cultural heritage. Organisers said the initiative aims to encourage visitors to reflect on values such as truth, compassion, selfless service, respect for diversity and harmonious living.
The programme also highlighted the efforts of Shrimad Rajchandra Mission Dharampur, under the guidance of Pujya Gurudevshri Rakeshji, to take Shrimad Rajchandraji’s teachings to people across the world.
The occasion concluded with a focus on the saint’s enduring message of self-realisation, compassion and living with a higher purpose.
