GUWAHATI: Smartphone screen protectors will come under compulsory registration requirements from April 1, 2027, under an amendment to the Electronics and Information Technology Goods (Requirement of Compulsory Registration) Order, 2021, notified by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

The amendment adds “Screen Protectors for smartphones” to the schedule of goods covered by the 2021 order as Serial No. 66.
The notification specifies IS 19348:2025 as the applicable Indian Standard for the products. The standard is titled “Glass Screen Protector – Specification.”
The amendment has been issued by the Central Government under the powers conferred by the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
The notification states that the Central Government considers the amendment necessary or expedient in the public interest.
