GUWAHATI: The flood death toll in Assam has risen to 103, even as the number of people affected by the deluge declined to 86,832, according to the latest flood situation report.

As per the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) report for August 12, seven districts remained affected by floods, with 433 villages under water. A total of 42 relief camps were operational, housing 7,216 people, while 37 relief distribution centres were functioning across the affected areas.
The report also recorded 10,884.27 hectares of crop area affected by the floods.
The cumulative flood situation from April 29 to August 12 paints a wider picture of the impact. According to the latest government update, 25 districts, 90 revenue circles and 2,733 villages have been affected during the period, with 12,11,889 people affected cumulatively.
The cumulative figures also show that 261 relief camps have been set up, providing shelter to 80,348 people, while 2,140 relief distribution centres have been established. Flooding has also fully damaged 4,940 houses and partially damaged 16,068 houses, with 31,338 people evacuated and four people still reported missing.
While the number of people currently affected has declined, authorities continue relief and rehabilitation efforts in the remaining flood-affected areas.
