GUWAHATI: Basistha Police recently apprehended two alleged snatchers linked to the notorious “Irani Group” during an operation conducted on the basis of specific intelligence inputs.

The accused have been identified as Rakesh Gowala alias Kishore Gowala (31), a resident of Raiganj in West Bengal, and Sumit Kumar (35) of Korha in Bihar.
Police seized a motorcycle bearing a fake registration number plate from their possession. The vehicle was reportedly stolen from Katihar in Bihar and was allegedly used in the commission of crimes.
According to police, the duo was involved in multiple chain-snatching and bag-snatching incidents across Assam.
A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
