The total number of seats in the Tamil Nadu Assembly is 234 and 118 seats are required to form the government. In the recent elections, the winning party TVK emerged as the single largest party but failed to get the magic number required to form the government. His party won 108 seats in the election but Vijay himself won two seats, reducing their MLAs to five Congressmen later., 4 from leftist parties, Vijay was sworn in as Chief Minister with the support of VCK and Muslim League. Currently, Vijay has the necessary numbers to run the government but this situation is not safe for him.

All these incidents indicate a major split in Jayalalithaa’s party.
