GUWAHATI: Virat Kohli has said the 2027 ODI World Cup will be his final 50-over World Cup for India, adding that he is determined to give his all in pursuit of another World Cup title.

“For me, it’s the last World Cup I’m going to play for India. And that is my motivation. And of course, the goal is absolutely to win the World Cup. And whatever it takes, I’m absolutely ready,” Kohli said in an interview.
The 2027 World Cup will be jointly hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.
Kohli, who has already retired from T20 internationals and Test cricket, currently represents India only in the ODI format. He is the leading century-maker in ODI cricket with 54 hundreds and is approaching the 15,000-run mark in the format.
The 37-year-old has featured in four ODI World Cups for India and was part of the title-winning team in 2011.
Speaking about the demands of the 50-over World Cup, Kohli said the format presents a particularly intense challenge, especially when played away from home.
“The intensity of a 50-over World Cup is greater than anything. Because now, it’s about 10 games at a Twenty20 level of intensity,” he said.
Kohli has been among the most prolific batters in World Cup history. In 37 World Cup ODIs, he has scored 1,795 runs at an average of 59.83, including five centuries and 12 fifties, with a highest score of 117.
