GUWAHATI: The Assam government on Tuesday, September 1, ceremonially launched the Chief Minister’s Jibon Prerana Scheme, providing financial assistance and career support to fresh graduates.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma virtually transferred the money to 47,505 students at an event. Payments could not be made to about 1000 students because of their non submission of Aadhar details.
The CM said that their payments will be regularised once they submit the Aadhar details.
The initiative offers ₹2,500 per month for one year, along with guidance in job search, competitive exam preparation, and self-employment.
The scheme aims to empower young graduates by helping them build their careers and explore entrepreneurial opportunities. It also seeks to encourage them to prepare for government and other competitive examinations.
Only 2025 pass-outs from government or public institutions located in Assam will be eligible for the scheme. Graduates from private institutions and open universities will be excluded. Applicants must also be permanent residents of Assam.
