GUWAHATI: The Assam government on Tuesday, September 1, transferred ₹15,000 interim flood relief monetary assistance to another 16,746 families in the upper Assam districts. The third phase of financial assistance would cost ₹25 crore to the exchequer.

Previously, such assistance was provided to 1.03 lakh families at a cost ₹150 crore.
All the assistance was provided through direct bank transfer.
At an event held at the CMO, Minister Keshab Mahanta said that the first phase of survey of the extent of damage of properties in those districts has been completed.
Another round of survey would be conducted soon after some consultation, the Minister said.
The administration has deployed a 1000 strength survey workforce across the region. The surveyors are operating across Charaideo, Sivasagar, Jorhat, and Golaghat.
As announced earlier, all collected survey data will be uploaded to an official online portal, allowing affected families to inspect their recorded loss details.
To guarantee fairness and complete coverage, families dissatisfied with the outcomes of the initial survey round will be granted a second opportunity to report their damages. In such cases, surveyors will conduct doorstep visits to re-evaluate losses.
Additionally, the government had also announced an ex-gratia payment of ₹9 lakh to the next of kin of each person who died in the floods. The administrative process for processing and disbursing the compensation is currently underway.
