50 LPG Cylinders Seized in Assam’s Chhaygaon, Driver Arrested


 

GUWAHATI: Assam Police seized 50 suspected stolen LPG cylinders and arrested one person during an operation carried out by Chhaygaon Police Station in Kamrup district.

According to police, a truck carrying the LPG cylinders was intercepted by members of the public at Udmuri Chowk. During verification, the driver allegedly failed to produce valid documents related to the cylinders.

Police identified the accused as Zahid Khan, a resident of Mohimari in Kamrup district. During questioning, he reportedly stated that the cylinders had been brought from Meghalaya for delivery at Goroimari.

The police also seized the truck used for transportation.

A case has been registered at Chhaygaon Police Station under Case No. 92/26 under Sections 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) read with Section 3/7 of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955.

The accused has been produced before court and forwarded to judicial custody.
