GUWAHATI: A Durga Puja in Guwahati’s Kahilipara area is set to mark its 51st edition this year with a ‘The Jungle Book’ theme, blending elements of the popular jungle world with the traditional presentation of Maa Durga.

The organisers have estimated an overall budget of around ₹31 lakh for this year’s celebrations and expect a footfall of approximately 5–6 lakh visitors.
The puja is also completing more than five decades of celebrations. In previous years, the pandal has featured themes inspired by landmarks and historical architecture, including an Egyptian Pyramid in 2018 and Hawa Mahal in 2019.
Pandal construction and decoration this year will involve artisans from Guwahati, along with specialised craftsmen from Kolkata for detailed work and finishing.
The pandal will be located at Sishuram Choudhary Path in Kahilipara South Colony.
The 51st edition is being organised by Bhairabtala Sarbojaneen Durgotsav Samity.
