A year has passed since India launched “Operation Sindoor” in response to the horrific Pahalgam terror attack that shook the nation and left countless families devastated.

On April 22, 2025, innocent Indian tourists who had travelled to enjoy the serene beauty of Pahalgam returned home only as blood-soaked lifeless bodies. Pakistan-backed terrorists brutally killed 26 innocent civilians, leaving behind shattered families, widows, orphaned children, and grieving parents. The horrifying attack sparked nationwide outrage, as every Indian demanded justice for the innocent lives lost.

Refusing to remain silent against such brutality, India responded strongly. On May 7, 2025, the Indian government launched a powerful military mission against Pakistan named “Operation Sindoor.” The operation was symbolically named by Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself to honour the dignity and sacrifice of Indian women whose “sindoor” was wiped away by the terror attack.

India’s armed forces, including the Army and Air Force, carried out a series of strategic strikes targeting terrorist camps and Pakistani defence systems. Multiple terrorist hideouts linked to the Pahalgam attack were destroyed in precision airstrikes conducted overnight. Pakistan’s arrogance and military confidence were severely shaken as India launched one successful retaliation after another.

The operation also highlighted the courage and contribution of women officers in the Indian Armed Forces. Colonel Sofiya Qureshi and Commander Bhawana Singh played significant roles during the mission and became symbols of bravery and patriotism.

However, the operation also came at a heavy cost. Five brave Indian soldiers laid down their lives while defending the nation during Operation Sindoor. Their sacrifice remains an unforgettable chapter in India’s military history and a symbol of supreme patriotism.

Marking one year of Operation Sindoor today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Himanta Biswa Sarma along with several top leaders paid tribute to the nation and the armed forces by changing their social media profile pictures featuring Operation Sindoor.

India has not forgotten Pahalgam. The memories of the victims, the sacrifice of the soldiers, and the courage shown during Operation Sindoor continue to inspire the nation.
