Biker Killed After Speeding Dumper Runs Over Him in Guwahati’s Jalukbari


 

GUWAHATI: A tragic road accident was reported from Jalukbari on Thursday night, May 7, where a motorcyclist lost his life after being hit by a speeding dumper truck on National Highway 27.

Speaking to GPlus, an official from Jalukbari Police Station confirmed the incident and stated that the accused driver, identified as Hussain Ali, has been apprehended and is currently in police custody.

The incident occurred along the Adabari-to-Azara stretch when the dumper allegedly rammed into the motorcycle from behind. 

According to initial reports, the impact caused the rider to lose control, following which the heavy vehicle ran over him, resulting in his death on the spot.

The deceased has been identified as Samiran Baishya, a resident of Dharapur.

Soon after the accident, the dumper driver fled the scene. However, police later apprehended the accused from Dharapur.

Personnel from Jalukbari Traffic Police rushed to the spot and recovered the body, which was subsequently sent to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for post-mortem examination.

A case has been registered, and police have launched a detailed investigation into the incident.
