GUWAHATI: Arunachal Pradesh athlete Rupa Bayor has qualified to represent India at the 2026 Asian Games after securing a bronze medal at the 2026 Asian Taekwondo Poomsae Championships.

With the achievement, Bayor has also become the first Indian athlete to win two consecutive medals at the Asian Taekwondo Poomsae Championships, marking a significant milestone for Indian taekwondo.
Her performance at the continental championship has drawn widespread appreciation, with many hailing the achievement as a major boost for sports in Arunachal Pradesh and the Northeast region.
Congratulating the athlete, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu said Bayor’s qualification for the Asian Games reflected her “exceptional hard work, dedication, and perseverance.”
In a post on X, Khandu described the achievement as “a matter of immense pride for the nation and especially for Arunachal Pradesh,” while wishing her success in the upcoming Asian Games.
