GUWAHATI: The Assam government has announced the recipients of its prestigious state awards, recognising distinguished contributions to the fields of culture, literature and the arts. The awards will be conferred on June 20 in Guwahati as part of the observance of Bishnu Rabha Divas.

The announcement was made by Assam Cabinet Minister Bimal Borah through a post on X. The awards will be presented on Bishnu Rabha Divas on June 20 in Guwahati.
For the Bishnu Rabha Award 2026, the state has selected Manik Borbayan, a noted exponent of Sattriya culture, and Madhusudan Das, a renowned painter and visual artist.
The Sati Sadhani Award 2026 will be conferred on Gita Upadhyay in recognition of her contributions to literature.
Meanwhile, Shamsuddin Ahmed, a prominent exponent of Zikir tradition, has been chosen for the Ajan Pir Award 2025.
Sharing the announcement, Borah stated that the state remains committed to recognising individuals whose exceptional contributions have enriched society, literature and culture.
