GUWAHATI: The Assam Cabinet has approved the allotment of 1,174 bighas (388 acres) of land in Nagaon and Kamrup Metropolitan districts for the development of industrial estates and a land bank in the state.

The land will be allotted to the Industries, Commerce and Public Enterprises Department as part of the government’s efforts to strengthen Assam’s industrial infrastructure and facilitate future investments.
The approved land parcels include 370 bighas at Chaparmukh and 100 bighas at Naharbari in Samaguri, Nagaon.
In Kamrup Metropolitan, 60 bighas, 386 bighas and 58 bighas at Chandrapur, along with 200 bighas at Durung in Sonapur, have been approved for the development of industrial infrastructure and land bank.
The Cabinet decision is part of a broader push to expand industrial estates and create a ready land bank for industrial development across Assam.
The government has also approved other measures aimed at boosting the state’s industrial sector, including amendments to the Industrial and Investment Policy of Assam, 2019, and incentives for eligible industries.
The Cabinet has also approved the Assam Trade Articles (Licensing and Control) (Amendment) Order, 2026, which abolishes the requirement for a Retail Selling Licence for petroleum products. The amendment removes the requirement for retailers to obtain a licence for the retail sale of petroleum products across the state.
In another decision, the Cabinet approved an amendment to the Industrial and Investment Policy of Assam, 2019, to include registered vehicle scrapping facilities as eligible industries for applicable fiscal incentives.
The Cabinet has further approved customised incentives for Fermbox Bio Pvt Ltd under the Industrial and Investment Policy of Assam, 2019, for its proposed investment of ₹300 crore in the state.
