GUWAHATI: The 6th Grand Ganesh Chaturthi Puja at Pandu this year will bring together devotion, art and cultural celebration with a distinctive Gopal Bhar theme.

The celebrations will feature Ganpati Bappa in a Shiv-Parvati-inspired form, symbolising love, strength and blessings. The pandal at Rest Camp, near Shani Mandir, will be decorated around the Gopal Bhar theme, with elaborate artwork, creative installations and illuminated decorations.
Gopal Bhar, a popular figure in Bengali folklore, is known for his sharp wit, wisdom and humorous storytelling. The theme, centred around “Haasir Rajya” or the “Kingdom of Laughter,” will recreate the character’s world through elaborate decorations and intricate artistic elements.
The organisers have allocated a budget of around Rs 7 lakh for the celebration, with preparations aimed at creating a grand and visually appealing pandal for devotees and visitors.
The puja will be inaugurated on September 13, followed by evening cultural programmes from September 14. A special tribute programme dedicated to late singer Zubeen Garg will be held on September 19, marking his death anniversary.
The celebrations will conclude with the immersion of the idol on September 20.
The puja will be organised by the Bhaichara Group and Unity Boys Group.
