GUWAHATI: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) on Tuesday, May 26, announced the appointment of senior Congress MLA Wazed Ali Choudhury as the Leader of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) in Assam, while Dr Joy Prakash Das has been appointed as the Deputy Leader.

The appointments were approved by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and will come into effect immediately, according to an official press release issued by AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal.
The announcement comes at a significant time for the Congress in Assam as the party looks to strengthen its organisational and legislative strategy ahead of upcoming political developments in the state.
Wazed Ali Choudhury, a prominent Congress leader from Assam, will now lead the party’s legislators in the Assam Legislative Assembly. Dr Joy Prakash Das, another senior party leader and MLA, has been entrusted with the role of Deputy Leader.
