GUWAHATI: Assam's flood situation continued to remain serious although the number of affected people has come down to 3,00,031 across seven districts, according to the latest data released by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) according to the flood situation report on Wednesday, July 29.

The cumulative death toll has risen to 78 as of July 29, according to ASDMA's latest report. Charaideo has recorded the highest number of deaths at 20, followed by Sivasagar with 19, Dhemaji with 3, Sonitpur with 1, Jorhat with 9, Karbi Anglong with 2, Golaghat with 3, and Kamrup with 1.
Two people have also been reported missing- one each from Sivasagar and Dhemaji.
Until now, approximately 11,45,003 people have been affected across 25 districts, with 2,237 villages and 77 revenue circles being inundated.
In the last 24 hours, 551 villages remained affected across the state.
A total of 71 relief camps remain open, housing 16,567 inmates, while 30 relief distribution centres have been set up to provide assistance to flood-affected residents.
Floodwaters have affected 21,523.08 hectares of crop area, highlighting the continuing impact on agriculture.
The floods have also affected 17,021 animals, while 11,170 animals have been washed away, according to the latest figures.
Meanwhile, 29,987 people have been evacuated from flood-affected areas as authorities continue relief and rescue operations across the state.
