GUWAHATI: Cachar Police intercepted a truck at the Puticherra Toll Gate on National Highway-27 and seized 21,600 bottles of Codeine Phosphate Syrup during an anti-drug operation, officials stated on Friday, May 22.

According to police, the operation also led to the seizure of two mobile phones and a six-wheeler truck allegedly used for transporting the contraband.
One suspected drug peddler was arrested in connection with the case.
Police said legal proceedings under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act have been initiated.
In a post on X, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the Cachar Police team for the successful operation and their continued crackdown against drug trafficking networks in the State.
