GUWAHATI: The Assam government has resumed the distribution of subsidised masur dal and sugar to ration card holders through Fair Price Shops across the state, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced.

Under the scheme, masur dal is being sold at ₹70 per kg and sugar at ₹30 per kg, allowing beneficiaries to purchase 1 kg each of the two commodities for a total of ₹100.
More than 70 lakh kg of dal and sugar has reportedly been made available at Fair Price Shops across Assam for distribution to eligible beneficiaries.
The scheme was formally relaunched on August 10 at a Fair Price Shop in Kamarjan village, Boha, in Nagaon district, with CM Sarma attending the event as the chief guest.
The government said the initiative is aimed at strengthening food security and providing essential commodities to ration card holders at subsidised prices.
Beneficiaries can collect their allocated stock from their nearest Fair Price Shop. Grievances related to the scheme can be raised with district or subdivisional authorities. Complaints can also be lodged through the toll-free helpline numbers 1800-345-3611 and 1967, with the latter available for BSNL users.
