GUWAHATI: Assam Rifles personnel promptly responded to a road accident on June 30, 2026, in which a civilian vehicle fell off the road approximately 300 metres short of Zochachhua Bridge towards Zorinpui in Lawngtlai District, Mizoram, with a recovery operation launched at the site immediately.

According to Assam Rifles, the operation reflected swift coordination and a commitment to public assistance, with troops mobilising without delay once the accident was reported.
A joint recovery effort involving one JCB from Assam Rifles and another from the SIB was launched to retrieve the vehicle from the difficult terrain. Troops on the ground extended all possible assistance and coordinated closely to ensure the recovery operation was carried out safely and in a timely manner.
Assam Rifles said the prompt response reflects its continued commitment to humanitarian assistance and support for local communities in remote border areas, reaffirming its role as the Sentinels of the North East.
