GUWAHATI: Assam’s globally renowned tea industry has achieved yet another milestone, with Deckiajuli Tea setting a new benchmark at the Guwahati Tea Auction Centre by fetching an impressive price of ₹800 per kilogram. The accomplishment reflects the rising international demand and premium valuation of Assam Tea in global markets.

The achievement was shared by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in an X post on Wednesday, May 27, who said the record price demonstrates the growing reputation and quality recognition of Assam Tea across the world.
Deckiajuli Tea’s latest auction success is being seen as a significant boost for the state’s tea sector, which has remained one of Assam’s most important industries for nearly 200 years.
The Guwahati Tea Auction Centre, one of the largest tea auction hubs in the country, continues to play a crucial role in showcasing Assam’s excellence in tea and connecting producers with buyers from across the globe.
The Assam government has also reiterated its commitment to strengthening the tea industry through focused initiatives, policy support, and measures aimed at improving production quality, market access, and the welfare of tea workers.
