Assam's Tulika Kalita Selected for National Teachers' Award-2026


 

GUWAHATI: A faculty member from Assam has earned national recognition for her contribution to skill education. Tulika Kalita, who teaches at the North East Skill Centre under the Assam Skill Development Mission (ASDM), has been named a recipient of the National Teachers' Award-2026, conferred by the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Government of India.

The ASDM operates under the state's Skill, Employment & Entrepreneurship Department. Kalita has been honoured in the category recognising Teachers in Skill Training & Entrepreneurship Development, placing her among just 13 educators chosen nationwide in this field.

The award ceremony is set to take place on September 5, Teachers' Day, at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi, where President of India Droupadi Murmu will present the honours in person.

Kalita is the daughter of the late Dr. Niranjan Kalita and Mrs. Nirupama Kalita of Lankeswar, West Jalukbari, Guwahati, and is married to Pulak Deka of Bezera, Kamrup.

Her selection marks a proud moment for Assam's skill-development ecosystem, highlighting the growing recognition of vocational educators who train the next generation for careers in fields such as beauty and wellness, food and beverage service, housekeeping, and retail services.
