Burlington English India has partnered with ARISE (Association for Reinventing School Education) to make English teaching in India's private K-12 schools more practical and communication-led.
Under the strategic partnership, Burlington English India becomes ARISE's category-exclusive partner for English language learning and communication skills. ARISE's network spans more than 1,800 schools in 20 States and Union Territories, with roughly 1.5 million students and 85,000 educators.
The two organisations say schools need to move English learning beyond textbooks and examinations. They want students to speak confidently, express ideas, take part in discussions, collaborate and use English outside the classroom. They point to healthcare, hospitality, tourism, travel, retail and customer-facing services as sectors where communication is a core workplace skill.
Educator development is a major part of the plan. Burlington English will bring its learning resources and teacher support to ARISE member schools. Teachers will get professional learning programmes, masterclasses, expert sessions and webinars on building communication practice into everyday lessons, using contemporary pedagogy, digital resources and blended learning.
Amit Baveja, Managing Director, Burlington English India, said the educator's role is changing as information and technology become more accessible. Teachers are becoming guides who help students handle information, use technology responsibly and build critical, creative and analytical thinking. He said high-quality teacher development "should not be limited by geography," and that the partnership aims to bring contemporary CPD workshops to teachers in Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3/4 cities alike.
Dr. Arunabh Singh, President, ARISE, said communication is not confined to the English period. In his words, it "lives in the corridor, the science lab" and beyond. He argued that children speak confidently when they feel heard, which starts with skilled and supported teachers. He said the partnership is about stronger language practice, investment in educators and approaches schools can use immediately.
As part of the partnership, Burlington English took part as a Learning Partner at the ARISE Learning Festival in New Delhi on 25–26 September. The programme included an expert session led by Andrew Steele and an experiential zone showcasing its learning solutions. Further planned initiatives include an ARISE INSPIRE expert session, a joint Principal Forum webinar and an ARISE × Burlington English roundtable on school leadership, institutional development and experiential learning.
The publisher has more than 40 years of experience and says it serves over 3.5 million learners and 100,000 educators in 40+ countries. Its school resources are aligned with the National Education Policy 2020 and the National Curriculum Frameworks.
