GUWAHATI: The Assam State Election Commission (ASEC) on Tuesday, June 30, issued a notification initiating the preparation and publication of electoral rolls for the forthcoming general elections to the Mising Autonomous Council (MAC).

According to the notification, the electoral roll revision will be carried out under Rule 16 of the Mising Autonomous Council (Election) Rules, 2005, with January 1, 2026, fixed as the qualifying date for voters.
The Commission has directed the respective District Commissioners to prepare and publish the electoral rolls based on the Assembly Electoral Roll published by the Election Commission of India on February 10, 2026, after bifurcating the relevant portions for MAC constituencies.
As per the schedule, preliminary work for preparation of the electoral rolls will be undertaken from June 30 to July 5, followed by entry of master data and constituency mapping from July 6 to July 12. Preparation of the electoral rolls through assignment and un-assignment of electors will take place between July 13 and July 21.
The draft electoral rolls will be published on July 22, while the last date for filing claims and objections has been fixed as August 6. Disposal of claims and objections will be completed by August 13, and the final electoral rolls will be published on August 17.
The notification further stated that Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) for the respective MAC constituencies have already been appointed to oversee the revision process.
The electoral roll revision will be conducted using the Assembly Electoral Roll in force as on January 1, 2026, with the aim of preparing updated voter lists for the forthcoming Mising Autonomous Council elections.
