The document, falsely attributed to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, claimed that petrol and diesel prices had been increased by ₹10 and ₹12.50, respectively.
However, the government’s fact-checking unit, PIB Fact Check, has dismissed the claim as false, stating that no such order has been issued.
In a clarification, PIB Fact Check said the circulating document is fabricated and does not originate from any official government source.
Authorities have urged the public to remain cautious and verify such claims only through official channels before sharing them further, warning against the spread of misinformation.
