According to the latest data from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the suicide rate in Assam is expected to increase with a total of 3,203 suicides recorded in the state last year. This is almost five percent more than in 2023, when 3,051 people committed suicide in Assam, but this time the number has increased, the awareness community is concerned.

According to the report, family problems, love conflicts, chronic illness and marital reasons are the main reasons for suicide. Those who take this extreme decision are most likely to commit suicide by hanging. It is believed that the complexity of social and personal life has pushed people in this direction.

According to the data, suicide is more common among people who are economically backward and have low educational qualifications.
