The Public Works Department (PWD) will carry out restoration work in Guwahati and several flood-affected areas, including Sivasagar, Charaideo, Nazira and Jorhat, as well as parts of Barak Valley and Lower Assam.
Speaking to the media, the Chief Minister said road restoration is taken up every year once the flood situation improves, with the government aiming to complete the works before Durga Puja.
The decision comes amid widespread road damage caused by recent floods and heavy rainfall. The restoration drive is expected to improve connectivity across affected areas ahead of the festive season.
