A complaint was lodged at Behali Police Station stating that four to five children had left their homes without informing their families and travelled to Guwahati.

According to police officials in Biswanath district, the minors had been contacted via social media by someone, which prompted them to make the trip.

Upon receiving this information, police immediately registered a case and initiated an investigation.

“We dispatched a team to Guwahati. The Guwahati Police provided significant assistance, and we were able to recover the children, four in total,” a Biswanath police official said.

During the preliminary investigation, police found that the minors had been in contact with an individual identified as Adam Tani, a resident of Lakhimpur. He had allegedly lured them away by offering various inducements.

“Young people today often don't think things through; they are easily swayed by such promises and end up falling into a trap,” the police official said.

Police first apprehended Adam Tani, and as the investigation progressed, it became clear that others might be involved.

Consequently, another individual named Bikash Borang, also a resident of Lakhimpur, was arrested.

Police traced the minors in Guwahati with the help of local police and brought them back to their native place.

Police said that the probe is being conducted from the human trafficking angle.
