GUWAHATI: The Government of India on Monday, May 25, announced the Padma Awards 2026, honouring 131 eminent personalities from across the country for their outstanding contribution in various fields, including art, sports, literature, medicine, public affairs, science, social work and trade.

The Padma Awards, among India’s highest civilian honours, are announced every year on the eve of Republic Day and are presented in three categories — Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri.
This year’s list features several prominent names from the world of cinema, sports, business and public service, including legendary actor Dharmendra, Malayalam superstar Mammootty, singer Alka Yagnik, Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma and industrialist Uday Kotak.
The Padma Vibhushan, the country’s second-highest civilian award, is conferred for exceptional and distinguished service of the highest order. The Padma Bhushan recognises distinguished service of a high order, while the Padma Shri is awarded for notable contributions in different disciplines.
The winners of the Padma Vibhushan 2026 are: Dharmendra Singh Deol (Posthumous) – Art, K T Thomas – Public Affairs, N Rajam – Art, P Narayanan – Literature and Education and V S Achuthanandhan (Posthumous) – Public Affairs.
