The bail petition was moved before Justice Saikia's bench by Chetan Dhirasaria, a business associate of Siddharth Sharma, in connection with the Mahaveer Aqua case.

Sources familiar with the proceedings indicated that the decision was linked to an earlier judicial order which ruled that all matters connected to the case be heard by the bench of Justice Mitali Thakuria.

Meanwhile, as the bail application of Shyamkanu Mahanta was heard by Justice M. Thakuria, the court observed that the matter falls within the jurisdiction of the appropriate bench. Accordingly, an order was passed today directing that the case be listed before the competent bench for further proceedings.
