Sharing details of the operation on social media platform X, the GMC said its authorities removed encroachments occupying footpaths and roadside areas in Ganeshguri as part of efforts to improve pedestrian accessibility and traffic movement.

According to the civic body, encroached footpaths often force pedestrians onto busy roads, reducing the available carriageway space and contributing to traffic congestion in already crowded areas.

The GMC stated that the drive forms part of its ongoing initiative to create cleaner, safer and more accessible public spaces across the city.

The corporation said ensuring encroachment-free footpaths and roads remains an important component of its broader mission to improve urban mobility and civic infrastructure under its Swachh Guwahati campaign.
