The operation was conducted by the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) as part of its ongoing efforts to streamline urban infrastructure and ensure smoother movement along busy city roads.
The drive also comes in the wake of GPlus’ news video report highlighting issues around GMCH, which brought attention to encroachments affecting traffic flow and pedestrian movement in the area.
In a post on X, GMC stated that illegal structures and roadside encroachments had been causing congestion in the area, obstructing vehicular flow and making it difficult for pedestrians to move safely.
“This initiative aims to ensure smoother and better urban management for our residents”, GMC stated.
The drive is expected to restore accessible pathways, particularly in high-traffic zones where both commuters and pedestrians had been facing daily challenges.
