GST Raids Underway at Five Rubber Businesses in Assam's Sribhumi Over Suspected Tax Evasion


 

GUWAHATI: A GST enforcement operation is underway at five rubber-related business establishments in Sribhumi district over alleged tax evasion and the suspected use of fake Input Tax Credit (ITC) to discharge tax liabilities.

The operation is being conducted in Ratabari and Patharkandi by the GST Intelligence and Enforcement wing of Assam, with assistance from Assam Police. The enforcement team is led by Manuj Kr Dowari, Superintendent of State Tax, Assam.

The five establishments where the operation is underway are Kazirbazar Rubber Enterprise, associated with Sabbir Ahmed; Safeway Solutions, associated with Shamim Ahmed; Ujala Traders, associated with Dilruba Begum; United Commercial, associated with Foyez Ahmed; and T & T Trading & Company, associated with Abu Tahir.

According to officials, the taxpayers were using fake ITC to discharge their tax liabilities, allegedly resulting in significant revenue loss to the government.

Sribhumi has substantial raw rubber production, with large quantities of rubber being supplied to other states. 

The GST enforcement operation is currently underway, with further details awaited.
