GUWAHATI: The Kamrup (Metro) district administration has cancelled the licence of Guwahati-based LPG distributor M/s Nabajyoti Gas Agency over alleged serious irregularities and repeated violations of the conditions of its trade licence.

According to the authorities, the licensee had committed serious irregularities and violated the term and conditions of the trade license.
A show cause noticed was issued to it upon receiving complaints, following the principle of natural justice.
Authorities said the agency, located at Hatigarh Chariali, had received several complaints from consumers alleging irregularities, including black marketing of LPG cylinders, misbehaviour with customers and failure to respond to consumer grievances.
"There have been complaints against the agency of misbehaviour, not responding to consumers' queries, black marketing, along with other serious irregularities," an official said.
The official added that while complaints have also been received against other LPG agencies, the number and nature of complaints against Nabajyoti Gas Agency were significantly higher.
Authorities further said that a few other LPG agencies are also under scrutiny.
