GUWAHATI: There’s good news for people in Assam and the larger northeast region. Next time you wish to make an international travel, you may not have to go to Kolkata or Delhi for your visa processing, documentation or personal interview.

The first Visa Application Centre, which will bring visa services for several countries closer to the people of the region, has been inaugurated in Guwahati’s Khanapara area on Thursday, October 15.
Through VFS Global’s Visa Application Centre in Guwahati, people will be able to apply Visas for several countries, including Austria, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Egypt, Estonia, Ireland, France, Japan, Italy, Malta, Latvia, Morocco, Switzerland, and United Kingdom.
Inaugurating the centre, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that this facility will make international travel more accessible to the people in the region.
“International travel becomes more accessible and convenient, right now,” the CM said.
A Schengen visa will also will be facilitated through the Guwahati centre, enabling Visa that will give access for travelling to 29 European countries, CM said.
