Guwahati International Marathon Set for February 7, 2027 With ₹1.25 Crore Prize Pool


 

GUWAHATI: The inaugural edition of the Guwahati International Marathon will be held on February 7, 2027, with a total prize pool of ₹1.25 crore, organisers announced.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma launched the logo of the Guwahati International Marathon in the presence of cricketing legend Sunil Gavaskar on Thursday, September 10. The Chief Minister also became the first registered participant for the marathon.

The online registration for the marathon was also officially launched, allowing runners to register for the event ahead of its inaugural edition.

The event is being organised with the aim of putting Guwahati on the global sporting map while encouraging people to adopt fitness and sportsmanship.

The marathon will feature four race categories- the full marathon of 42.195 km, a half marathon of 21.097 km, a 10-km run and a 5-km run.

Sarma called upon the people of Assam, particularly residents of Guwahati, to participate in large numbers and make the inaugural edition a successful sporting event.
