Guwahati Police Arrest Seven For Alleged Dacoity, Cattle Theft in Major Operation


 

GUWAHATI: Basistha Police on Thursday, May 21, arrested seven alleged dacoits in a major operation linked to cattle theft, ATM theft and other criminal activities across Assam. The operation was led by Basistha Police OC Kapil Pathak.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Abdullah Ali, Jakir Ali, Majnur Ali, Chand Mohammad Ali, Mostafa Ahmed, Kafiluddin Ali and Badshah Ali.

According to police, the accused were apprehended from Hajo, Nalbari, Adabari and Namile areas during the operation.

Officials said the group was allegedly involved in cattle theft and dacoity cases reported from different parts of the State. Police added that the accused had previously been linked to several theft, robbery and other criminal activities.

During the operation, police seized a four-wheeler vehicle without a registration number plate.

Authorities also recovered ropes, sharp weapons, cash and four mobile phones allegedly used in theft and dacoity-related activities.

Police stated that the gang was also suspected to be involved in ATM theft cases.

Investigators further said CCTV footage related to cattle theft incidents has been recovered as part of the probe.

Further investigation into the case is currently underway.
