India Coast Guard Rescues Six After Fishing Boat Floods Off Mangaluru


 

GUWAHATI: The Indian Coast Guard rescued six people after a fishing boat suffered hull damage and started flooding in rough seas off the Mangaluru coast on Monday, June 29, averting a potential maritime tragedy.

The rescue operation was carried out by Indian Coast Guard Ship Sachet after receiving information about distress aboard Indian Fishing Boat (IFB) Manju Matha.

According to the Coast Guard, all six survivors were safely rescued using remote-operated lifebuoys during the operation at sea.

The rescued persons are being transported to New Mangalore, where they will receive assistance before being handed over to local authorities.

Further details regarding the extent of damage to the vessel and the cause of the incident are awaited.
