GUWAHATI: A permanent regional centre building for Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University is set to come up at Purani Gayan Gaon in Jorhat, with the foundation stone laid on Friday, July 3.

The new facility will replace the rented premises from which the regional centre has been operating since 2013 and will cater to learners across six Upper Assam districts. The proposed 6,000-square-foot building will house facilities for admissions, counselling, examinations, academic activities and administrative work.
According to the University, the Jorhat Regional Centre currently oversees 76 Learner Support Centres and serves more than 10,000 active learners. The foundation stone was laid in the presence of university officials and representatives of the Public Works Department (PWD).
